Crochet Baby Booties Pattern
"Big Bow Baby Booties"

Skill Level

Easy, with one intermediate stitch

 Materials Needed:

1. Yarn: 2 ½ oz Soft Worsted Weight (I used the Red Heart)

Color A – Ivory

Color B – Rose Pink

2. Crochet Hooks

    a. Size E/4 – 3.50 MM = 0-6 Month Baby

    b. Size F/5 – 3.75 MM = 6-12 Month Baby

    c. Size G/6 – 4.25 MM = 12-18 Month Baby

3. Yarn Needle (blunt sewing needle with big eye)

4. Stitch Marker

6. Thread and Needle (color to match the bow)

 Stitch Abbreviations:

ch – chain

sc – single crochet

hdc – half double crochet

dc – double crochet

hdc2tog – half double crochet decrease

dc9tog – half double crochet 9 stitches together

sl st – slip stitch

st(s) – stitch(es)

 Stitch Definitions/Explanations:

hdc2tog – half double crochet 2 stitches together

dc9togWork double crochet in next stitch, but do not complete the stitch, there will now be 2 loops on your hook, continue to work 8 more incomplete dc in the next 8 sts, when finished you will have 10 loops on your hook, yarn over, pull through all 9 loops on your hook. 

 Instructions:

Booties (Make 2)

Foundation Chain (Sole): With color A ch 13.

Rnd 1: 2 hdc in 2nd ch from hook, 2 hdc in next ch, hdc in next 6 ch’s, dc in next 3 ch’s, 5 dc in last ch.

Note: Now you will be working on the opposite side of the ch, make sure to weave in your loose yarn strand as you work.

Continuing Rnd 1: Working on the opposite side of the chain, dc in next 3 ch’s, hdc in next 6 ch’s, 2 hdc in next 2 ch’s, sl st into first hdc (31).

Now place your stitch marker.

Note: The ch 1 does not count as a stitch.

Rnd 2: Ch 1, 2 hdc in next 2 sts, hdc in next 8 sts, dc in next 3 sts, 2 dc in next 5 sts, dc in next 3 sts, hdc in next 8 sts, 2 hdc in last 2 sts, sl st into first st (40).

Rnd 3: Ch 1, 2 sc in next 2 sts, sc in next 16 sts, 2 sc in next 4 sts, sc in next 16 sts, 2 sc in last 2 sts, sl st into first st (48).

Rnd 4: Working in back loops only sl st in each sc around (48).

Rnd 5 (Lower Boot): Working through the entire stitch, sc in each st around, sl st into first st (48).

Fasten off and weave in loose ends with a yarn needle.

Rnd 6: With right side of sole facing you, attach color B to the center back of the sole, hdc in each sc around (48).

Rnd 7: Hdc in next 16 hdc, (hdc2tog) repeat 8 times, hdc in next 16 hdc (40).

Rnd 8: (Hdc2tog) repeat 2 times, hdc in next 9 hdc, (hdc2tog) repeat 7 times, hdc in next 9 hdc, (hdc2tog) repeat 2 times (29).

Note: If you haven’t already weave in your loose yarn end with a yarn needle.

Rnd 9: (Hdc2tog), hdc in next 9 hdc, (dc9tog), hdc in next 9 hdc (20).

Rnd 10 (Upper Boot): 2 hdc in next hdc, hdc in next 19 hdc (21).

Rnd 11: 2 hdc in next hdc, hdc in next 20 hdc (22).

Rnd 12: 2 hdc in next hdc, hdc in next 21 hdc (23).

Rnd 13: 2 hdc in next hdc, hdc in next 22 hdc (24).

Rnd 14: 2 hdc in next hdc, hdc in next 23 hdc (25).

Rnd 15: 2 hdc in next hdc, hdc in next 24 hdc (26).

Rnds 16-17: Hdc in each hdc around.

Rnd 18: Attach color A , hdc in each hdc around, sl st into first st (26).

Fasten off and weave in loose ends with a yarn needle.

 Bootie Bow (Make 2)

Foundation Chain: With color A ch 5.

Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in remaining ch’s (4).

Rows 2-14: Ch 1, turn work, sc in each sc across.

Rnd 1: The bow will now be shaped like a rectangle; do not fasten off, ch 1, sc around the rectangle/bow (36).

Fasten off, and weave in loose ends.

Wind color B around the middle of the bow tightly about 20 times, weave in the tail end with a yarn needle.

Assembly:

Place the bow on top side of bootie and stitch into place. Make sure to place 2nd bow on opposite side of 2nd bootie.
